Park Safari: St John’s Recreation Ground
No bugs will be harmed in the safaris, simply discovered!
It’s that time of year again! Get ready to dust off your muddy shoes and dig out your bug boxes as Park Safaris returns to Tunbridge Wells.
Back due to popular demand, Dr Ian Beavis (nature expert) will be leading the bug-hunting Park Safaris throughout the school summer holidays.
An expert on the natural world and an approachable guide, Dr Beavis will be leading fun, lively and informative trails across the parks of Tunbridge Wells. Park Safaris offer participants an opportunity to discover the diversity of tiny wildlife which exists right on their doorstep. Participants will learn about how to look for insects and identify local varieties, all under the watchful guidance of Dr Beavis who will be on hand to offer advice, expertise and interesting facts.
Park Safari participants are encouraged to bring their own bug spotting tools, for example a transparent box with a lid. If you would like to buy a purpose made bug box with magnifier these can be found on sale when you purchase your tickets. Please note they will not be available to buy on the day. If you buy a bug box they will be distributed to you at the start of the Park Safari.
The Park Safaris are aimed at families with children of all ages who want to learn more about the insects which share their home with us.
The Park Safaris will take place at the following parks:
Please note that there will be two sessions at each park, a morning session (10.30am) and an afternoon session (2.30pm).
