Work in our Culture Team
As part of our Culture team, we work across The Amelia, Skate, the Assembly Hall Theatre, TW Social, GO Tunbridge Wells and Circle (our membership scheme). Our aim is simple, develop and expand our audiences across our exciting culture buildings, websites and seasonal activities, aiming to engage with every resident in, and visitor to the borough.

The Culture team runs The Assembly Hall Theatre (AHT), and, is about to open a newly refurbished building 'The Amelia Scott', both in the historic Town Centre of Royal Tunbridge Wells, just 55 minutes by train from Charing Cross.
The Amelia is an integrated service, combining cultural facilities such as museum collections, exhibitions and art galleries, alongside community engagement activities, library, adult education and council services. The Amelia is due to open in April 2022 and is an important addition for community engagement.
The Assembly Hall Theatre is a 1017 seat flexible, multi-disciplinary arts venue presenting mid-scale touring work; with an ambition to produce small-scale work in the medium to long term future. The AHT is housed in a Grade II listed building, with an annual subsidy of £300-400k per annum.

Theatre Technician
The Assembly Hall Theatre is currently recruiting a Theatre Technician post to join the technical team.
We are looking for someone who is able to work calmly and effectively whilst under pressure working to time schedules, with a wide range of people, including artists and visiting production staff. You must be self motivated and able to work under minimal supervision. A ‘can do attitude’ is essential.
The Assembly Hall Theatre is a busy receiving house with over 300 productions a year ranging from Concerts, Comedy shows to pantomimes. We are now looking for a new technician, with a bias towards lighting, to join our team. The ideal person will have experience working in a similar receiving house environment with an awareness of the challenges this can present.
The successful candidate will have an understanding of theatre lighting desks with the ability to both program and operate during live performances. Have a working knowledge of both conventional and intelligent luminaires, their uses in theatre and basic maintenance of such equipment. Including an insight into dimmers and data protocol, able to understand lighting rig plans and have the ability to carry out instructions given on technical rider.
The candidate will be required to work in other technical departments including stage, flies, sound and setting of the auditorium. On occasions you will be required to act as Duty Stage Manager. It is essential that the candidate is able to work at height and using access equipment.
The post holder will be required to work evenings and weekends.

START SALARY: £23,579 (increases with Contribution Based Pay Scheme - subject to scheme rules)
