GENEROUS ASSEMBLY HALL THEATRE PATRONS DONATE MONEY TO HOSPICE IN THE WEALD

9 January 2012

Generous families enjoying the pantomime,  Sleeping Beauty, (10 Dec – 2 Jan) donated more than £4,000 for the theatre’s Christmas charity Hospice in the Weald.   Bucket collections were held at the end of each theatre performance during the pantomime's three-week run.

Hospice in the Weald provides specialist palliative care, advice and clinical support for people with life limiting illness, their families and the bereaved and the money raised will go towards Memory Books created by patients -  a wonderful way to leave a lasting memory for those left behind.

Brian McAteer, from the Assembly Hall Theatre, said: 'Each year we do bucket collections after performances of the pantomime to raise money for nominated charities, and as ever we are delighted to have been able to raise money for Hospice in the Weald. The kindness and generosity of our audiences has raised a magnificent £4,173 which we are donating to the hospice.'

Rachel Holweger, Fundraising Director for Hospice in the Weald, said: ‘We are very grateful to The Assembly Hall and everyone who came to the pantomime and donated to Hospice in the Weald.  As a local charity with so much relevance to so many this support is hugely appreciated and makes a big difference’.
